Modern Kitchen Design

Modern kitchen design is a phrase interior designers hear a lot when talking about a kitchen renovation or remodeling a home or an apartment.

There are a few things to keep in mind when doing your kitchen renovation. It is a big job and for it to be cost-effective, you want to make sure that you are thinking about all the important things. Whether it’s a small kitchen or a big kitchen with a combined living room and standalone kitchen island, you want the modern kitchen design to represent your family’s needs.

When talking about kitchen joinery in a modern kitchen design, clean lines and a flushed look with no excessive cabinet pulls have become very popular. Kitchen cabinets and other storage solutions are a great way to incorporate design features that will work in your kitchen space. For example, a roller door is a fantastic idea to hide your coffee machine or a kettle. It is also in your hand reach when you need it.

Another great modern kitchen design idea is a hidden drawer for a bin or food waste. Also, having a tall cabinet for your broom or a mop will make your life so much easier. The idea is to have quick access to all the things you might need every day, but at the same time hide them from plain sight. Practicality is the key. And of course, design aesthetics.

Island benches are one of the first things you see. You want to make sure that the bench stone works well with either your timber floors or concrete floors. The beautiful finish of stainless-steel appliances creates an expensive look straight away. The metallic grey finish picks up beautiful greys in the splashback tile or benchtop stone and ties the look together.

One of the things that are unfortunately overlooked in modern kitchen design, is the lighting. Having appropriate lighting fixtures will make your life in the kitchen so much easier. Remember, there is a difference between task lights, mood lights, and overall lights.

It is lovely to see that many of our customers want to have some timber features in the kitchen. For example, open shelving made of solid timber is a fantastic idea when you have timber floors.

As you can see modern kitchen design is all about the little things. Therefore an interior design specialist can recommend solutions that you might otherwise overlook.
