En suite Transformation: The client asked to enlarge their bathroom and make room for a free-standing bath and a double vanity. The idea was to “overtake” the small kitchenette adjacent to the main bedroom and transform all wet areas into one bigger space.

The brief was to keep it modern, minimal, and fuss-free with a feeling of sophistication, even though the new space was now long and narrow. It was also important to the clients to have a large shower, plenty of storage within the vanity cabinetry, and easy-to-clean surfaces.

Instead of a feature-tile, we have decided on a large-format tile being complementary and adding contrast to space.

Key design aspects:

Colour palette: Charcoal, pale grey, and white, with a touch of warmth added through accessories and greenery.

Materials palette: Instead of feature-tile, this time we have decided on large-format tiles adding contrast to space – charcoal and light grey porcelain tiles.

All Joinery items in white in a shaker style.

Stone elements both in the Caesar stone benchtop and the Dark Grey Natural stone basins created another layer of a feature.

Key pieces: The Freestanding bath and the beautiful stone basins were picked as the key elements in this design.

The layout:

A Narrow high window was positioned above the bath to allow for natural light and privacy. The shower was tucked away to the side of the room so it is hidden and private. The vanity and shaving cabinet were positioned opposite the door as a focal point and for the large mirror doors to reflect the natural light coming from the corridor.

Challenges:

The new space created was long and narrow and the arrangement of each element was important in order to create a well-balanced space.

The end result is fantastic – the space is grand allowing more than one bathroom user at a time when required, there is ample storage within the large vanity and mirrored shaving cabinet. The tile selection, the free-standing bath, and all other fittings sitting together in harmony in a contemporary yet soft and inviting arrangement.
