Why dusty pink tiles work so well in this bathroom?

Although pink is not the first colour you would think about when renovating your bathroom, it has gained a strong following among designers and homeowners alike.

We’re not talking about pastel baby pinks; we’re talking about “grown-up” dusty pinks, elegant blush pinks and earthy vintage pinks. These shades have greys and browns in them and other neutral muted tones making them very appealing for bathrooms. They work very well with grey floor and wall tiles and add a romantic twist to the design. They pick up browns and beige in timber vanities or wooden accessories and create a very comfortable feel.

Although we love dusty pink, like with any colour you might not want to go overboard with it. Too much and the result can overwhelm your bathroom and make the space feel too busy.

The importance of the right grout colour cannot be overstated when it comes to pink. In this bathroom, a beautiful earthy pink grout gives the tiles just the right amount of contrast and keeps the overall look earthy and muted. This takes the pink feature wall into the ‘understated yet sophisticated’ aesthetic, as opposed to a white grout which might have given the pink tiles a more “pretty” and perhaps more feminine feel. Depending on the look you’re after, you might want to experiment with a couple of grout options. 

Choose one area where you want to create more interest. Whether it is a shower wall, wall behind a bath or behind your vanity, it will look pleasing and refreshing.

Tiles that have variations in colour look stunning and create a sense of movement and depth. The overall look is also much more flexible when choosing accessories like bath towels, soap base or even the colour of flowers.

So, don’t be intimidated by pinks – we all need some playfulness in our lives, right?
