Blackwood Timber Feature

Australian Blackwood is also known as Tasmanian Blackwood and it is a member of a Wattle family. This timber is used for many purposes for example floors, cabinets, and other furniture. The best characteristics are that it's durable, strong and has a gorgeous colour. Carpenters love working with that timber because it is easy to manipulate with. For example, adding stain for some colour variation or hammering nails into the timber.

The timber colour ranges from pale beige to reddish-brown and usually, it has straight grain lines, but it can vary.

In this project, Blackwood dark timber works very nicely with the light pink handmade subway tile that covers one wall and makes it a feature.

The custom-made timber vanity has two vertical top finger pull drawers and a hidden frame. It means that the vanity doesn’t have a standard frame all around it. The matching custom mirror cabinet has two bottom finger-pull mirror doors and adds a generous amount of storage space for all the necessities.

The basin and the Brushed Nickel tapware are deliberately modest, letting the Blackwood timber feature shine.

On the opposite wall of the timber vanity is open shelving made of Blackwood. It’s a great way to balance the design and carry the wooden feature without being too heavy.
